Independent filmmaking built from big-production experience.
Cellar Door Visions started in a garage in 2020.
It was created by filmmaker Cole Doran as a place to make independent work, collaborate with other filmmakers, and apply the experience gained working on major film and episodic television productions to projects operating on a smaller scale.
The focus is on helping independent artists bring ambitious ideas to life, whether that means developing the approach, building the right crew, solving problems on set, or carrying a project through visual effects and post.

Cole Doran is a Toronto-based filmmaker and VFX supervisor whose work spans directing, on-set visual effects and large-scale film and episodic television production. Cellar Door Visions is where those worlds meet, bringing the experience, problem solving and production standards of larger projects into independent filmmaking.

Filmmaking is constantly changing, and the tools available to independent creators are evolving faster than ever.
Cellar Door embraces new technology, including AI-assisted workflows, when it helps serve the idea. Used thoughtfully and with experienced creative direction, these tools can make ambitious concepts more achievable, help smaller productions work more efficiently, and open up possibilities that may have previously been outside the scope of the budget.
The goal remains the same: use the right combination of people, practical filmmaking, visual effects and emerging technology to put the strongest possible image on screen.
